The AIRAID Filter Company was founded in 1997 when it began developing and manufacturing air intake systems for light trucks and SUV's, utilizing cotton-gauze filters that were then being made for them by the K&N filter company. The original AIRAID Intake System combined an open-element filter with a high-flow intake tube to make an easy-to-install kit that dramatically increased horsepower and torque to a level you could feel in a heartbeat! Since then, with sales tripling in the first year of production, it became obvious that K&N, as their original filter supplier, would not be able to keep up with AIRAID's meteoric growth.

As a result, AIRAID began production of their own filters in late 2002, with new state-of-the-art SynthaFlow TM materials and technology that would make AIRAID better than the rest. SynthaFlow TM provides an extra layer of fibrous filtering protection, above and beyond that provided by the primary layers of cotton gauze, assuring better filtration and cleaner intake air than the a K&N or similar filter.
