Anyone who's built up the horsepower in a '99-'03 Lightning knows that the more you do under the hood . . . the more you burn tires unless you do something about traction off the line. At lower engine speeds, the viscous coupling is intentionally allows more slippage, allowing the truck to gain momentum before the full torque and power of the engine can be harnessed into the proper acceleration curve. And for around town driving, you'll still be comfortable with the driveabiltiy, not to mention the added edge you'll have against any unlucky Lightning guy whose still sporting the stock converter.
